Odysseo by Cavalia

Returns to Orange County for the 2016 holiday season: From November 16 to January 8

By Natalie Liu, Co-publisher of Macaroni Kid Chino Hills December 2, 2016

Watching the Odysseo show by Cavalia under the White Big Top for the first time with my kids, ages 5 and 7, was unlike any show we had seen before. It features 65 horses of 11 different breeds, and 48 riders, acrobats, performers, and musicians with a beautiful stage and scenery which captivates every audience member for the entire show.

My sons’ favorite part of the show was seeing the group of acrobats perform amazing high jumps, flips across the stage, and balancing acts. They were amazed by the horses that followed in doing jumps at such a high speed and the riders that seemed to put their life at risk in doing tricks on and over the horses.

The live musicians and singers provided beautiful music which was the perfect complement to the nature setting, wonderful costumery which seemed to flow and highlight the beauty and speed of the horses as they performed. There was a variety of different landscapes and scenes such as a carousel that combined aerialists with beautiful drapery and the horses with their riders. My children were amazed at the finale of the show when the water began filling the stage and a lake appeared as a landscape for the horses and performers. My kids who are animal lovers were mesmerized by the show but this is a must see for families who love horses and appreciate the beauty of these amazing animals.
