MK Creates - Snowflake Paintings

By Laurie Corbett January 25, 2015
Some days you want to play in the snow but it is just too cold to go outside. Or maybe there just isn’t enough snow left on the ground.

Create some snowy fun inside with a snowflake-inspired art project.

What You'll Need:
  • Canvas - any size. We used 8x10 canvases that we found for under $3. You can find blank canvases in various sizes at your local craft store.
  • Painters or masking tape
  • Blue paint. We used two shades of acrylic craft paint that we purchased for $1 each.
What You'll Do:
  1. Use the tape to create a snowflake design by covering the places on your canvas that you want to remain white.
  2. Paint the canvas blue, or shades of blue. It’s okay to paint right over your tape!
  3. Allow your canvas to dry for several hours or overnight.
  4. Remove the tape and reveal your snowflake!
Use this project as a chance to talk about snowflakes and how all snowflakes are different. This discovery makes every snowflake painting perfect!
