My family went to SeaWorld this past weekend and we had a great time with our family. It has been several years since we last visited the park and we really enjoyed the new rides, exhibits and attractions.
The first place we visited was the Ocean Explorer area which was perfect for my toddler as they added new rides available for young children such as the Aqua Scout, Octarock, Sea Dragon Drop, and Tentacle Twirl. My older son also liked the thrill ride Manta which soared and dived like a stingray and Electric Eel the tallest coaster in the park. We enjoyed the new Ocean Explorer Animal exhibits where we saw a giant spider crab, octopus and moray eel. What was different about the exhibit was that it was interactive with areas for children to climb through to see the animals displayed up close. My kids loved climbing in to see the octopus wrap its tentacles around the dome display above their head. We visited the different areas around the park to visit the animals such as the freshwater aquarium, penguin encounter, turtle reef, shark encounter, bat rays touch pool and the wild arctic.
The shows at SeaWorld are always fun in watching the animal splash the audience while being educational. We had fun seeing the Orca Encounter which integrated live storytelling and seeing the killer whales highlight what was discussed with the footage of killer whales in the wild on the infinity screen. My kids shared about what facts that they learned from the show in regards to their feeding behavior, physical features and skills. I personally liked the theatrics of the actor “Biff” who does the pre-show entertainment for the Sea Lions Live show. My kids were amazed that the Sea Lions “danced” and “acted” in the shows.
We also noticed a new thrill dueling roller coaster ride called Tidal Twister is under construction and opening in May of this year. SeaWorld is perfect for children and families who love learning about animals, conservation, and being able to explore and experience them in new ways. We are looking forward to future visits and when we can return to the park!
